Triago Promotes Masson to Partner, Hires Two in San Diego and New York

Elisabeth Masson, key to Triago’s Strategic Advisory Business, has been promoted to Partner from Principal, as the private equity advisory continues a global expansion drive.

Press Release

May 15, 2023 – Global private equity advisory Triago has promoted Elisabeth Masson to Partner from Principal in the group’s Paris office while expansion continues apace with hires in the New York and San Diego offices. Since the start of 2021, Triago staff numbers have increased 41 percent, with all activities reporting significant double-digit growth in revenues over the same period.

“Elisabeth’s promotion to Partner is well-deserved recognition for her essential role growing our Strategic Advisory business over the last four years,” says Triago founder and Executive Chairman, Antoine Drean. “With key input from Elisabeth, we’ve carved out an excellent business helping private equity fund manager groups raise debt, preferred equity, structured funding and equity on the basis of the dramatically rising value of these firms relative to traditional asset managers.” Triago notably advised European Life Sciences VC firm Sofinnova on a minority stake sale to PE group Apollo last year, with the latter pledging as much as €1 billion to Sofinnova’s future funds.

Before Masson joined Triago as an Associate in 2019, she worked as an Investment Banking Analyst at J.P. Morgan in London. She earned a Master’s in Management from Paris-Dauphine University and an Advanced Master’s degree in Finance from ESCP Paris. “This is an amazing opportunity for me,” says Masson. “Private equity fund managers have never been worth so much on a relative basis, yet the strategic and tactical choices regarding how to convert that value into growth have never been more complex.”

Along with Masson’s promotion, Triago has hired Mitchell Carter as a Senior Associate in it its San Diego office (opened last July under Partner Pete Purcell). Carter is a private equity and investment banking veteran, who most recently served as a Senior Associate on the investing team at Virgo Investment Group, focused on aircraft leasing and growth investments. At Triago he works on classic fundraising, and primary direct mandates (raising capital for single-asset or limited asset investment outside of classic fund structures). He has a Master’s from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business.

In New York, Liam Oprendek has been hired as an Analyst and Ashley Walker, formerly an Analyst at Triago and a Triago summer intern, has been named Marketing Analyst. Oprendek earned a BSBA degree from Questrom School of Business at Boston University, while Walker holds a BA in English from St. Lawrence University.

“These appointments enrich a deep bench of highly integrated talent across classic fundraising, directs, secondaries and general private equity, stretching from the west coast of North America to western Europe and beyond,” says Triago Global CEO Matt Swain. More appointments are imminent at other Triago offices.
